St. John’s Vestry Approves Native Land Acknowledgement Statement

St. John's Vestry approved the following Land Acknowledgement Statement at its meeting on Tuesday, September 17:

We acknowledge that St. John's Norwood sits on the unceded land of the Piscataway Nation. We honor the past and present histories of these peoples and of this place.

Many thanks to all who attended the informational forum on Sunday, September 15.  Sari, along with members of our Vestry and our Racial Justice and Equity Committee, led us in a thoughtful discussion, in which we learned about the Indigenous people of this land and the context and background of Land Acknowledgements. We also learned more about St. John's Racial Justice and Equity Committee and the process of developing our own Land Acknowledgement.
