Lenten Forum Series: Bearing Witness

Running five Sundays, beginning Mar. 9  |  10:00 am  |  Parish Hall / Zoom  -

We’re truly excited to share with you Bearing Witness, a five-part series that will be presented by the Holy Land Committee (HLC) as the Adult Forum offering during Lent (March 9, 16, and 23;  April 6; and a fifth date TBD).  The series will be offered in our typical hybrid format, both live in the Parish Hall and virtually on Zoom (link:  bit.ly/STJNmain).   Our facilitation team includes Beth Rezaei, Carolyn Seaton, Nancy Adams, and Kirk Campbell.

These sessions, prepared by the American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, and hosted by St. John's Holy Land Committee as a Lenten series, are designed to bring together our faith with education on the challenges of caring for others in the extreme and ongoing situations of violence, death and destruction in this place that is so sacred to Christians and the other Abrahamic faiths. There is so much we have to learn, beyond the headlines, through the lens of our faith. Please join us to meet the diverse people of the Holy Land, hear about their struggles and aspirations, and see how the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, which St. John’s supports, lives Jesus’s mission and ministries in the Holy Land every day.

For more, you can view the participant session guides. Please feel free to either preview the material and videos in advance or continue your learning after the session. Also, the following are background materials recommended by AFEDJ if you’d like preparatory videos in advance of the series:

The Holy Land is sacred to Christians. Make a commitment this Lent to get to know its people and to understand its complexity, so you, too, can faithfully bear witness for peace, justice, and shalom.
