WORSHIP

Children in Worship

We believe the presence of children among us enriches our worship and exemplifies the faith that Jesus taught us.

where children are seen...and heard

Welcoming children into worship

Welcome to a church where children are seen and heard as a joyful highlight of our community. Here, children are encouraged to immerse themselves in the beauty and sanctity of worship, joining in hymns and prayers, making worship a deeply shared family experience.

The 'Pray Ground'

At our 9 am Family Service, the front of the nave is transformed to the 'PrayGround' – carpeted space where young children can play quietly while also joining in worship. We reserve the front pew for parents so they can easily keep an eye on their little ones.

During Summer Hours (June through August), the ‘Pray Ground’ is available during our main Sunday service, at 10 am.

Children's Chapel

During our 9 am Family Service, Children’s Chapel provides a special time for songs, stories, and prayers designed for children 8 years old and younger.

Children’s Chapel takes a break during Summer Hours (June through August)

Open Communion

Our Communion table is open to all, including children. We welcome everyone to participate in Communion as they feel comfortable, following the instructions from the Celebrant.

Worship Streaming in the Lounge

During our 11:15 service (10 am in summer), iIf your child is feeling a little restless and needs to stretch their legs or their vocal cords, worship streaming is available in the Lounge (where you’ll also find our children’s library collection!), just outside the front-right doors of the Nave.

The Sunday Paper & Kids Kits

To help children connect with each week’s Gospel, ask an usher or greeter for 'The Sunday Paper,' quiet activities for children under 11.

For younger children ask for a Kids’ Kit. These drawstring bags contain lacing cards, an Etch-a-Sketch, a lift-the-flap Bible, and books designed to help children learn about the Episcopal tradition, liturgical items, and feast days.

Child care

Child care is available in our Nursery during our 9 am Family Service for children up to 6 years old, and during the Education Hour from 10 am to 11 am for children under 3.

In the summer, child care is available during the 10 am service.

Our caregivers are vaccinated against COVID-19, pass a background check, and also complete the Episcopal Church’s child protection training.
