We extend a warm and enthusiastic welcome to our new Director of Finance, Sofiane Manai, and offer deep gratitude and appreciation to Beth Campbell, who has served in this role with tremendous care and commitment over the past two years.
Sofiane joins St. John’s with over two decades of distinguished experience in both the private sector and international nonprofit work. His leadership has spanned financial portfolios of varying complexity—from organizations with revenues of $2 million to global initiatives exceeding $150 million. His breadth of expertise includes not only finance, but also grants management, human resources, procurement, logistics, administration, and strategic planning. Throughout his career, Sofiane has demonstrated a gift for strengthening systems and fostering operational excellence in service of mission-driven work. We are delighted to have Sofiane among us, and look forward to the ways in which he will enrich our faith community with his presence and financial expertise.
At the same time, we extend a profound and heartfelt thanks to parishioner Beth Campbell, whose thoughtful leadership has guided our financial life with clarity and integrity. Beth stepped in to the role of Director of Finance in late 2022 after a fateful parking lot conversation at Nourishing Bethesda. Since then, she has worked diligently to enhance transparency, improve internal systems, and bring key accounting functions back in-house—strengthening not only our operations, but our sense of connection across ministries. Beth has stewarded multiple audits, supported the Vestry through budget season, helped maintain our membership database, and offered vital support to the stewardship team. Her work has been grounded in personal dedication to the people and mission of St. John’s, and we are deeply thankful.
Transitions like these invite us to pause—to celebrate the gifts that have been shared, and to look ahead with gratitude and hope. We are blessed by the legacy Beth leaves behind, and blessed again by the gifts Sofiane brings to our common life.
