On Sunday, February 9, St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral hosted the leaders of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ukraine and America, who came together for the first time to celebrate a service honoring St. Andrew’s Pastor, the Rev. Dr. Volodymyr Steliac (Father V to us) and his wife Marta, for their leadership of the St. Andrew Humanitarian Center, St. John’s fundraising partner for Ukraine. At a luncheon that followed, St. John’s was one of only three local organizations recognized for the more than $60,000 raised and contributed to Ukraine over the past three years.
In presenting the award, His Beatitude, Metropolitan Epiphanius I of Kyiv and all Ukraine—the spiritual head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church— noted that 'Your parish community in Ukraine is well known by many."
We thank members of the Ukrainian Support Group as well as all parishioners and members of the community who have made gifts of their time, talent, or financial resources to help the people of war-torn Ukraine. Many, many thanks! Please continue to give generously to support the people of Ukraine!
