Summer Choir

This summer, the St. John’s Choir and St. John’s Singers will combine as the Summer Choir for 10:00 am services one Sunday in July and one in August. These dates are July 12 and August 16. The only rehearsal for each is at 9:00 am prior to the 10:00 am service. This is a great opportunity to sing with the choir without having to attend a weekday rehearsal.

We welcome anyone interested in joining forces with these wonderful singers who lead our music every Sunday.  (It is a great opportunity to ‘try before you buy’ if you are not sure if you could make a full commitment during the program year!)  To help you prepare, Jason West, our Minister of Music, can send you PDF copies and a recording of the anthems in advance. This will help you be more familiar with the music before the morning rehearsal and service.

In addition to the combined choir on Sundays, we will also have a women’s ensemble sing on June 21 and a men’s ensemble sing on August 30 (again, each with only one rehearsal just before the service, at 9:00 am). Like the combined choirs, these are made up of the men or women of our regular program-year choirs—and we welcome any additional singers to join us. Since there is so much music for these voices, this gives the singers another chance to sing together during the summer, but as part of a smaller ensemble. Just as with the combined choir, Jason can send you music and recordings of the anthems in advance.
