Mondays, March 2 - May 18 | 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm | Zoom -
A new Sacred Ground course is planned for Spring 2026. Many St. Johns members, including Vestry members, have taken this course, which provides insight into problematic aspects of our country’s racial and ethnic history, and the legacy for us today. Weekly meetings involve group discussions of the short readings and films assigned for that session.
The goal has been aptly described as education and enlightenment without guilt or shame, to help us all wherever we are along our paths to building the beloved community. Those who take the course report finding it extremely rewarding.
The course will once again be facilitated by Jayne Osgood, who has agreed to do this while completing her deacon internship at St John’s. She will be joined by our own Rob Hartmann as a facilitator in training. Rob took the course while a member of the Vestry and has played a key role in St John’s racial justice initiatives, most recently co-founding the new Faith & Democracy Ministry. Once trained, Rob will be able to facilitate Sacred Ground Circles on his own, and train additional facilitators at St John’s.
The course will meet online on Zoom Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 pm for eleven weeks, beginning March 2 and ending May 18.
All are welcome to participate. You do not have to be a member of St. Johns, so feel free to let others know. The group size will be limited to ensure that everyone can be an active part of the discussions each week.
