Sept. 27 Outreach Sunday Benefits the Bishop John T. Walker School

On Tuesday, September 1, about 100 boys from low-income homes in Anacostia began their new year of K-5 education at the Bishop John T. Walker School for Boys (BWS).  Please give generously to BWS on Sunday, September 27, so that these boys can learn, develop, and flourish.

As the first African-American Bishop of the Diocese of Washington, the Right Reverend) John T. Walker worked tirelessly to open doors of educational opportunity for African-American students.  The Diocese created BWS in 2005-2007 to carry on his work.  Today, BWS is a tuition-free independent school rooted in the traditions of Episcopal education, current research on boys' social and intellectual development, a progressive educational approach, and the educational philosophy of Bishop Walker.

Donations may be made via Breeze (Select “Outreach Sunday: Bishop John T. Walker School” from the drop-down menu.); by texting “outreach” to (301) 685-7608; or by check, payable to St. John’s Norwood with “Bishop Walker School” on the memo line. Thanks!
