Have a Free Private Meeting with an Estate Attorney

Sunday, April 27  |  half hour, pre-scheduled afternoon appointments -

There are a variety of roadblocks to establishing an estate plan. One is the perception that it will be complex and costly. In addition, for most of us, there is the challenge of finding an attorney  whom you can trust to manage the process in a timely and capable manner.  The Legacy Giving Program at St. John’s  is instituting a program to overcome both issues.

The Legacy Giving Program has two complementary missions. First, we support parishioners by helping them prepare a will that meets their needs and those of their heirs. Second, we encourage parishioners, if circumstances permit, to include St. John’s in their will (or other types of planned gifts). Legacy gifts provide a vital and enduring  source of financial support for  St. John’s future.  Legacy gifts provide critical support for the mission of the Church for generations to come in a way that other revenue sources like annual pledges cannot.

In order to ease the path for parishioners to start the estate planning process we have invited Anne S. Quinn, a respected local  estate and trust attorney, to come to St. John’s and meet privately,  and at no charge, with parishioners.  (Some may recall that Anne from a  forum at St. John’s  that she and  Melanie Folstad led in February on financial and estate planning.) This meeting, called an initial consultation, allows you to discuss with her the people and causes that you care about. You will be able to talk through what you want for them and yourself—not just at death, but also if you are no longer able to care for yourself.  She will discuss how your wishes can be carried out and identify and remove roadblocks that might stand in the way.

Meetings will be held at the Church and will last for about a half hour. We only have a limited number of spots on April 27, so please use the form below to let me know ASAP if you wish to meet with Anne, and the time that you can meet between 2:00 and 4:30.

If you do not have an estate plan in place or the legal documents needed if you become disabled for any reason, I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to get started on this important task.
