Service of Compline & Contemplative Prayer – Wednesday, May 28 at 7 :30 pm

Wednesday, May 28  |  7:30 - 8:30 PM  |  St. Mary's Chapel  -

In his sermon on Sunday, May 11, Sari created an opportunity for the whole congregation to practice centering prayer* by closing our eyes in meditation on the verses of the 23rd Psalm, hearing them anew as they resonate in our hearts. In doing so he has encouraged each of us to consider ways to deepen our spiritual formation.

Each Wednesday evening during Lent—and before that in Advent—the Exploring Spirituality ministry has led a service of Compline, along with a period of Contemplative Prayer. In the candle-lit quiet of St. Mary's Chapel, parishioners and others have gathered to celebrate in community this ancient service that provides comfort and consolation at the close of the day.

On Wednesday, May 28, there will be one final opportunity of the program year to participate in Compline at 7:30pm in St. Mary's Chapel. Please join us that evening, and bring  any ideas you may wish to propose for the Exploring Spirituality Ministry to consider as we make plans for the fall.

Cindy Anderson, for the Spiritual Practices Ministry

Centering prayer is a form of Christian contemplative prayer that focuses on deepening one's relationship with God through a process of silence, stillness, and consent.
