St. John's Exploring Spirituality ministry will offer lay-led communal and contemplative prayer services in St. Mary’s Chapel throughout Lent, on five consecutive Wednesday evenings starting on February 25 and concluding on March 25.
The evening will start with a short five-minute talk on a theme, followed by a communal prayer service using the Order for Worship for the Evening from the Book of Common Prayer (BCP), plus a few applicable parts of the BCP’s Daily Evening Prayer service. Added to the BCP in 1979, the Order for Worship for the Evening is the direct descendant of perhaps the most ancient liturgical service in the Christian tradition.
