Help Get Out the Vote in November Elections!

St. John’s volunteers will help to support our democracy by writing postcards with voting information for mailing to registered Black voters in Virginia. Getting out the vote in states like Virginia that have a history of voter suppression is particularly important. The postcards do not advocate for any political party or candidate, but encourage people to vote. As in the past, we’re collaborating with Reclaim Our Vote (ROV), a voter outreach campaign of the nonpartisan Center for Common Ground.

This fall, voters in Virginia—one of five states that hold legislative elections in odd-numbered years—will be casting ballots for the offices of Governor, Lieutenant Governor, state Attorney General, and all seats in the House of Delegates. The outcome will affect public safety and other important issues. Outgoing Governor Glenn Youngkin vetoed 27 Gun Violence Prevention (GVP) bills passed by the state legislature, including a ban on assault rifles. One candidate for governor this fall, Abigail Spanberger, is endorsed by Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

Sign up now to help us send 2,000 postcards this fall! Indicate how many packs of 20 postcards with stamps, addresses, etc. you’re willing to write and plan to pick them up at church at the end of July and early August. You’ll write them over the summer and hold them to mail in September, arriving in advance of the November election.

Thanks!
