Two years ago, we made the decision to move from Texas to Chevy Chase to be near our son and his family. Our two wonderful granddaughters had much to do with that decision.
Moving always presents challenges; finding a church home was one of them. We had our list of boxes to check: Not too big, not too small; strong outreach; meaningful, thought-provoking preaching; good music; a community of love and acceptance; diversity in the congregation; an appreciation for the church’s history and an eye on the future.
Our preliminary online search narrowed the field. We visited St John’s a few times while we were in the traveling back and forth stage. St. John’s had what we were looking for in a new church home. A few visits later, we made the decision to become part of the St. John’s family; a talk with Anne Derse helped us find places to get involved. Frances serves as a lector, and both of us usher at the 11:15 service. We volunteer at Nourishing Bethesda when we can. And we make a financial pledge to St. John’s, our new church home.
Every member counts; every pledge counts. Please join us in supporting St. John’s with your own pledge of financial support.
