On Sunday, December 17, please give generously to support the Betty Ann Krahnke Center (BAK). This shelter for women and children fleeing domestic violence is named in honor of St. John's parishioner and Montgomery County Council member Betty Ann Krahnke (1942-2002). With a capacity of 60 beds, BAK is the only emergency safe house in Montgomery County for survivors of intimate partner violence or sexual assault. The shelter's staff understand that the women and children in their care have been impacted by trauma and provide appropriate responses. They help families begin to heal, stay connected to their children, find safe options in the community, and access the financial, legal, and other resources they may need.
Donations may be made via Breeze (Select “Outreach Sunday: Betty Ann Krahnke Ctr” from the drop-down menu.); by texting “outreach” to (301) 685-7608; or by check, payable to St. John’s Norwood with “Betty Ann Krahnke Center” on the memo line. Thanks!
