Sunday, Nov. 2 | 5:00 pm | Nave -
The St. John’s Choir will offer its annual All Saints Choral Evensong on Sunday, November 2, starting at 5:00 pm. In homage to All Saints Sunday, the front of the church will be lit with scores of candles, to help remind us of “those we love but see no longer.” Following the 900+ year Anglican tradition, the choir will sing most of the service.
After each reading, the choir will sing the text of the Magnificat (Luke 1) and the Nunc Dimittis (Luke 2), in settings by late 19th/early 20th English composer George Dyson. The choir will also sing a beautiful anthem by Ernest Bullock, an early 20th-century English composer; a Psalm, sung in the traditional Anglican Chant style by later 20th-century English composer Peter Aston.
This beautiful service of song, scripture, prayers, and hymns will be followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. If you cannot participate in person, the service will be livestreamed on YouTube.
We hope you will join us!
