As the 2026 Maryland State Legislative Session begins, learn about key gun safety bills and how to advocate for them. Hear from a distinguished guest panel:
- Karen Herren (Moderator), Executive Director, Marylanders to Prevent Gun Violence
- J. Sandy Bartlett, Esq., Maryland State Delegate, District 32, Anne Arundel County
- Nicole A. Williams, Esq., Maryland State Delegate, District 22, Prince George's County
- Jordan Chadwick, Legislative Assistant to Maryland State Senator Joanne C. Benson, District 24, Prince George's County
The Maryland General Assembly's annual session opens January 14 and adjourns April 13. With many competing legislative priorities and a short timeframe, your help is needed to pass bills that would prevent deaths and injuries. At the Town Hall, State legislators will outline bills to:
a) protect domestic violence victims from gun violence;
b) ban handguns that can easily be converted to machine guns; and
c) tax gun dealer profits to generate sustained funding for community-based violence interventions.
To learn more and ask questions, please join our town hall on Sunday, January 18 from 12:55 to 2:30 in the Parish Hall or via Zoom (bit.ly/STJN-SpecialEvent)—and please help spread the word with this flyer! For those attending the event in person, in St. John's Parish Hall, a light lunch will be offered at 12:30 pm.
Then, to help pass these bills, please plan to join Moms Demand Action Advocacy Day in Annapolis on Thursday, February 5. Sign up to participate at https://act.everytown.org/event/moms-demand-action-event/73530
