Youth Sunday 2025: Faith and Action

Sunday, October 5  |  10:00 am - 12:00 pm  |  Nave & Parish Hall  -

Here at St. John’s, we talk a lot about “faith in action.” We even have a ministry area by that name (“Faith in Action”) that does great work! Our formation programs are built around the two prongs of Faith and Action. What does that look like for our youth? Please join us on Sunday, October 5, to find out!

Worship will be at 10 am, instead of at 9 and 11:15, and will be led by our High School Juniors and Seniors. Over the past two years, these students explored self, spirituality, and society in a rigorous Journey to Adulthood (“J2A”) with leaders Gary Dean, Kathy Kemper-Dean, and Cotton Walsh. Further, they prepared with Rev. Sari Ateek last spring for confirmation of their baptismal vows at the National Cathedral. In June, they went deeper through a spiritual pilgrimage to Ireland. Their leadership of our October 5 liturgy will be a culmination of this ongoing faith process, as youth share their faith journeys with our entire parish.

Immediately afterward, from 11:15 am to noon in the Parish Hall, youth will share pictures, videos, and stories from two formational Summer 2025 events: the J2A-Ireland Pilgrimage for high school juniors and seniors, and the Camp Joy week of Appalachian mission for all youth, ages 12 and up. We invite our entire parish to see and hear how faith AND action played out in these teens’ lives this past summer.

Thank you, St. John’s, for your support of our next generation!
