Men’s Book Club Hosts Bishop Budde for a Discussion of “How To Be Brave”

Wednesday, May 21  |  7:30 - 9:30 pm  | Parish Hall  -

MEETING OPEN TO ALL PARISHIONERS

Bishop Mariann Budde will discuss her book How We Learn To Be Brave: Decisive Moments in Life and Faith on Wednesday, May 21, starting at 7:30 pm, in St. John’s Parish Hall.  As with all Men’s Book Club events, the meeting is open to all.  After her opening presentation, Bishop Budde will take questions from the audience. There will be a reception afterward with light refreshments.  The event will end at 9:00 pm.

In How We Learn to be Brave, Bishop Budde employs her personal struggles with disappointments, challenges, setbacks, and some triumphs to illustrate how we can confront the decisive moments in our lives with courage, wisdom, and, on occasion, acceptance.  We may decide to go, to stay, to start, to accept, or to take other actions. Whatever we choose, she offers paths to help us make the decision.

After she wrote this book, she explained that she felt an awareness that “[w]e are not alone. We are not isolated from one another. And there is a force in the universe that is ultimately for good, which we can tap into and which can empower us.”

In order to make this event as personal as possible, the meeting will be held in-person only; there will be no Zoom.

I hope you can join us for this special evening.
