Are you cleaning out your paperbacks to make room for new books you received for Christmas? DC Books to Prisons would love to have your used ones!
DC BOOKS TO PRISONS is a volunteer organization providing free books to individual prisoners and prison libraries. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that each year sends more than 7,000 book packages to prisoners in over 600 prisons in the US and serves state and federal prisoners in 34 states.
You can support DC Books to Prisons by donating good condition PAPERBACK BOOKS. To best match books prisoners request and those donated, parishioners are asked to review the categories listed on the DC Books to Prisons webpage at http://dcbookstoprisoners.org/donate-books/.
There is a collection box outside the sacristy for donated paperbacks. Or, use the form below to contact Peg Sanders, who can arrange pick-up of your books.
Book donations are greatly appreciated by prisoners as you can see from their own words:
When I’m reading I get a feeling of being free. Reading let’s me feel like I’m in someplace else.
