Nov. 17 Outreach Sunday: Lutheran Social Services

On Sunday, November 17th, as you prepare for Thanksgiving, please share your blessings with less fortunate families by donating to Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area (LSSNCA). LSSNCA is an ecumenical immigration relief and refugee welcome agency whose mission is "to foster resiliency, self-sufficiency, and access to opportunities by creating, connecting, and engaging with welcoming communities."

In collaboration with LSSNCA, the St. John's Refugee Ministry has sponsored families from Afghanistan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. LSSNCA prepared our Refugee Ministry for sponsorship, training, and vetting of volunteers, and connecting families with essential benefits and case management in the first months of resettlement as they work to achieve financial independence. The Refugee Ministry continues to assist new neighbor refugee families supported by LSSNCA, working in partnership with Montgomery County-based New Neighbors Interfaith Alliance.

LSSNCA CEO Kristyn Peck gave an excellent presentation at the St. John's October 13 Adult Forum, elaborating on their work and the immigration process. In FY-2023, LSSNCA served over 3,000 individuals from more than 46 countries, and the demand for their services continues to increase.

Please give generously to LSS. To donate online, please use Breeze and select "Outreach Sunday: Lutheran Social Services" from the drop-down menu. Thanks!
