Men’s Book Club Discusses “Going Infinite: the Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon” by Michael Lewis

Wednesday, Nov.  13  |  7:30 PM  |  Parish Lounge/Zoom  -

Michael Lewis, author of the best-selling books The Big Short, Moneyball, and The Blind Side, has turned his attention to the founder of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried.  FTX, along with its crypto quant trading company Alameda Research, famously surged in a few short years to unheard of profitability and then imploded in a matter of days. In Going Infinite: the Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon, Lewis tries to answer one question about Bankman-Fried:  ”[w]ho is this guy?"

In the process of analyzing this mystifying and baffling man, Lewis lucidly explains the workings of the crypto world in a way that laymen can understand. He also captures the staggering growth and astonishing collapse of the FTX/Alameda empire, and the civil and criminal proceedings that inevitably followed. Lewis is a fine writer with an aptitude for making complex matters understandable and a willingness to let readers make ultimate judgments.
