Program
Saturday morning we will familiarize ourselves with the Braver Angels model for respectful debate. After watching a recorded debate on a culturally relevant and controversial issue, we will discuss our reactions to the debate and consider whether this would be a useful model for St. John's to engage productively with men's groups from other congregations. We expect this discussion will continue after lunch.
In the afternoon, following a short break, we will practice interviewing each other using the method developed by StoryCorps; recording of conversations is optional. In the process, we look forward to hearing more about each other than is normally exchanged over coffee in the West Lobby.
After Saturday evening dinner, we intend to watch a movie, with time for discussion of the film's themes.
Sunday morning we will have a brief Eucharist celebration, followed by a discussion of future directions for the Men's Ministry, including our plans for the year ahead. There will be time for fellowship and informal conversation.
