The Men's Retreat will take place Saturday morning, January 31, through midday Sunday, February 1, at Bon Secours Retreat Center in Marriottsville, MD. The retreat program will have two parts. (1) We will watch a Braver Angels debate on a currently divisive issue handled respectfully on both sides, and then discuss our reactions to the debate. The Braver Angels model may be a way for St. John's to engage with other groups in a constructive way. (2) We will practice interviewing each other using the method and tools provided by StoryCorps; retention of recording or recording itself is optional. In the process we look forward to hearing more about each other than is normally exchanged over coffee in the West Lobby. This process could be a way to build stronger community at St. Johns.
Bon Secours is about 35 miles from St. Johns and carpooling is possible. All participants will have a private room with private bath. There will be an option for one day vs. overnight; more information and a sign up will be forthcoming.
