On Sunday, December 21, please give generously to support the Betty Ann Krahnke Center (BAK). BAK is a 60-bed, short-term crisis shelter for women and their children who are fleeing domestic violence and/or victims of sexual assault or human trafficking. BAK provides crisis intervention, safety planning, victim advocacy services, counseling, and therapeutic interpersonal skill-building, with an emphasis on trauma reduction and personal empowerment. The Center is named in honor of beloved St. John's parishioner, Betty Ann Krahnke, who died in 2002.
Betty Ann Krahnke served 3 terms on the Montgomery County Council before her life was tragically cut short by Lou Gehrig's disease. Learn more about her public service and advocacy for victims of crime, especially victims of domestic violence, here—https://wapo.st/4omdrZr—and then make a donation to carry out her mission of protecting victims.
Donations may be made via Breeze (Select “Outreach Sunday: Betty Ann Krahnke Ctr” from the drop-down menu.); by texting “outreach” to (301) 685-7608; or by check, payable to St. John’s Norwood with “Betty Ann Krahnke Center” on the memo line.
Thanks!
