The Refugee Ministry will host a dinner for St. John’s refugee families on Sunday, December 14, from 5:45 until 7:30 pm in the Parish Hall.
St. John’s is currently sponsoring two Afghan families and one family from Venezuela, and we would like to celebrate them and introduce them to the St. John’s community. We have also invited four Afghan families that St. John’s sponsored or provided assistance to since 2021 who are now successfully resettled in the DMV area. Refugee sponsorship by St. John’s involves organizing teams of volunteers to provide support services including apartment set-ups, rent support, connecting with medical care and schools, English tutoring and employment search over the course of a year as the families work to achieve independence.
