Nov. 2 Forum: “What Are We Missing? The Infinitely Puzzling Teen Experience”

Sunday, Nov. 2  |  10:00 am  |  Parish Hall/Zoom  -

What’s with teens today?

After 100 years of this question, what more can be discussed?
Turns out, plenty!

On November 2, our 10:00 am Forum will feature local high school students involved in the Museum of Contemporary American Teenagers (or MoCAT)—an initiative of B-CC teacher and St. John's parishioner David Lopilato.  Building on the momentum of their Totally Teen Summer events—which included a large, multi-media installation at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, American University and other venues—they are launching a nationwide exhibition:  "What are We Missing? The infinitely puzzling teen experience."

Join MOCAT representatives in the Parish Hall or via Zoom (bit.ly/STJNmain) to gain a fuller appreciation of the contemporary American teen experience! St. John's teens will be invited to add to the conversation, illuminating what we are perhaps missing about teens today and faith.

Background

This past summer, the teens behind the Museum of Contemporary American Teenagers (MoCAT)—including some of St. John's own!—organized Totally Teen Summer.

From The American University Art Museum at the Katzen Center to The Smithsonian Folklife Festival to musical venues across the DMV, Totally Teen Summer—part retrospective of the last 100 years of the American teenage experience and part exploration of contemporary American teenage culture—took our area by storm.   Read press coverage:

MoCAT is now building on the summer's momentum with a new initiative: What are We Missing? The infinitely puzzling teen experience—a series of immersive art installations designed to include teenagers from across the country and to travel across the country.
