Nov. 1 Adult Forum – “Politics & Faith: A Pre-Election Forum with the Rev. León”

Sunday, Nov. 1  |  10:00 - 11:00 am  |  Parish Hall / Zoom (bit.ly/STJNmain)  -

"Politics and Faith:  No permanent allies and no permanent enemies."
- Saul Alinsky

We are living today in difficult times, times in which the nexus between faith and politics can be opaque, and difficult questions arise. How do I live faithfully in a daily context that challenges my most fundamental beliefs? How does my faith inform my politics and my life in a world that seems to have lost its compass? What is the role and responsibility of the church as the body of Christ, and what is the role and responsibility of the individual Christian, in meeting current challenges?

Join us on Sunday, November 1, at the 10:00 am Adult Forum in the Parish Hall, to explore these and other questions with the Reverend Doctor Luis León, formerly rector of 24 years at the “Church of the Presidents,” St. John’s Lafayette Square.  Throughout a lifetime of ministry at St. John’s and nationally,* Rev. León has guided people of faith in such charged moments.

We are blessed that Rev. León and his wife Lu are now with us as members of St. John’s and that he will share his personal experience grappling with the relationship between politics and faith as we head into the November midterms.

Join us for what is sure to be an illuminating presentation and discussion as we prepare our hearts and minds for an important moment in our nation’s history.

* Rev. León also formerly served as Assistant Rector at St. Peter’s Church in Charlotte, NC; Director of Refugee Resettlement in the Diocese of Maryland; Rector of St. Paul’s Church, Paterson, NJ; Rector of Trinity Parish, Wilmington, DE; Rector of St. John’s Church-Lafayette Square in Washington, DC, until his retirement in 2018.
