On Sunday, July 27, please give generously to A Wider Circle (AWC). Its mission is to advance equity in the Washington, D. C. region by fostering the exchange of goods, services, and connections from neighbor to neighbor and engaging in advocacy to address the root causes of poverty. In addition to providing 10-15 families each day with beds, dressers, dining sets, etc., AWC provides career counseling, job search assistance and professional attire for interviews. In Ward 8, AWC provides services tailored to meet the needs of the Highlands neighborhood and also operates a multi-year program to help low income individuals achieve success in employment, education, physical health, emotional health, and social connectedness. To create the long-term change needed to end poverty, AWC also advocates with public officials.
