Taizé Service

March 31, 2019
6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

In the south of Burgundy, France lays a small village called Taizé. This village, founded over seventy years ago by Brother Roger, is home to a monastic community devoted to prayer and reconciliation. The community is made up of brothers from all the continents and major denominations who gather together three times a day, seven days a week, throughout the year to pray. Taizé’s “meditative worship,” which intentionally includes elements of silence, repetition, and sung prayer, lends itself perfectly to the structure of Evening Prayer.

All are welcome in the Nave of St. John’s on Sunday, March 31st at 6:30 pm, as we engage in contemplation and song by candlelight. As evening comes, we look to the light of Christ that scatters the darkness, as we anticipate the great awakening of the resurrection. Through the church’s song – the singing of psalms, hymns, and prayers; and through reading of and reflection upon the scriptures, we commend ourselves and the whole world into God’s hands.
