St. John’s Interfaith Works’ Women’s Center Week
Please sign up on the Outreach bulletin board at St. John’s to help feed the women at Interfaith Works’ Women’s Center during the week of August 12 – 18, 2018. The center, which has is located at 2 Taft Court, near the corner of Norbeck Road and East Gude Drive in Rockville, houses 35 homeless women in counseling and job training programs to become self-sufficient. Many St. John’s families with teens and preteens volunteer, and it’s a great opportunity to get the whole family involved in community service!
The Outreach Committee will provide the breakfasts just by dropping off supplies for the week, but parishioners can volunteer to help in two main ways:
- You can sign up to assemble and deliver the bag lunches one day that week from supplies provided by the Outreach Committee in the church kitchen; and/or
- You can sign up to help provide and serve the dinner one evening that week.
The daily lunch bag assembly and delivery is easily done by one family or two adults. Each dinner is usually provided and served by two to four adults or families. Detailed instructions and directions will be emailed to each lunch and dinner team the week before. Sample menus and the sign-up sheets are posted on the Outreach bulletin board.
Please sign up to help! You can contact Julia Andrews with any questions (or if you want to sign up but cannot get to church this Sunday).
