In observance of Black History Month, St. John’s is offering a three-week Sunday morning Adult Education series “The History of Racism in our Own Backyard.”
- On February 5, our church archivist, Cathy O’Donnell, will give an updated account of racism in St. John’s own church history.
- On February 12, our own Jay Mallin will offer his presentation on the history of redlining and racial covenants in our neighborhood and surrounding area.
- Finally, on February 19, we’re pleased to welcome our friends from Scotland AME Zion Church (in Potomac) to talk from their experience as an historically Black congregation and the challenges they’ve faced.
Please join us for these enlightening sessions at 9:00 am, either on Zoom or in the Parish Hall. (For the Zoom link, please call the church office at 301-654-7767).
