Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

February 13 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

$8 – $20

For many decades St. John’s has celebrated Shrove Tuesday with the offering of a pancake supper prepared by the dozen or so former Senior Wardens who still live in the area.

Please join us at this year’s Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on Tuesday, February 13 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm, in the Parish Hall.

We’ll serve pancakes, bacon, sausage, apple sauce, fruit, and beverages.  A gluten-free, vegetarian option will also be available. Breakfast for dinner is a bargain! Priced at $8 per person, $15 for two persons, and $20 per family of three or more. And kids under 6 years old eat for FREE. Please be prepared to pay with cash or via Breeze when you arrive.

What is Shrove Tuesday and why do we eat pancakes? Shrove Tuesday, the day preceding Ash Wednesday, and also known as “Fat Tuesday,” was made popular by New Orleans’ celebration of Shrovetide, the final days before Lent begins. Traditionally, this day was the last chance for a spot of indulgence before 40 days of fasting, and was also an opportunity to use up food that couldn’t be eaten during Lent. This included eggs, fat, and milk, which were made into pancakes and eaten on that day.

Have your own little Mardi Gras celebration! Bring friends! Funds raised support the youth’s service project to CAMP JOY this summer, so please support them too. We hope to see you there!
