Pilgrimage to Peace Dialogue

Details

Date:
April 5
Time:
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
St John’s Holy Land Committee (HLC) is hosting Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP) as they bring their Pilgrimage to Peace dialogue to D.C. on April 5th at 7 pm in our Parish Hall. The event features CMEP staffers Sara Burback, Director of Outreach, and Alison Glick, Director of Development and Mobilization, who will moderate a conversation with Obada Shtayeh from the One Voice Movement and Suzann Mollner of Beirut and Beyond, about peace-building and advocacy related to Israeli and Palestine.
Sara Burbck & Alison Glick
Key aspects of the conversation include realities affecting the Palestinian refugee community and the importance of advocating for human rights in Israel, the Palestinian territories, and with refugees throughout the Middle East. The occupation of the Palestinian territories impacts people living on all sides of the conflict. Understanding the geopolitics, social considerations, and other aspects of the conflict demands that we look beyond the headlines into the daily realities of people living on the ground. The things we learn working for peace in in the Middle East can be applied to conflicts in all areas of our lives; including conflicts with our families, friends, neighbors, and communities.
Obada Shtayeh & Suzann Mollner
Join us to learn what it means to be someone who pursues peace, while also advocating for justice in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and beyond. CMEP is a coalition of 27 national Church denominations and organizations working to encourage U.S. policies that actively promote just, lasting and comprehensive resolutions to conflicts in the Middle East.
