Outreach Sunday for Seabury Resources for Aging
On Sunday, January 24th, please give generously to Seabury Resources for Aging (formerly Episcopal Senior Ministries).
Since 1924, Seabury has been providing critical support services for older people in the Washington, DC area. St. John’s own Suzanne Welch serves on the Seabury Board of Governors. Along with operating several homes serving over 300 senior residents, Seabury helps seniors remain in their own homes, by providing in-home assessments, coordinating support services, training caregivers, addressing critical transportation needs, offering meal services, and providing other services and activities.
During the Coronavirus pandemic, Seabury is working diligently to keep residents, staff, and others safe. They have delivered over 1,600 masks each month to protect residents, frontline staff, family caregivers, and others. Because all DC senior meal sites are closed, Seabury Connector is delivering over 70,000 meals each month. All residents at Friendship Terrace and Springvale Terrace are receiving daily meals delivered to their apartments, regardless of their ability to pay. In addition, Seabury is hosting weekly virtual yoga classes and providing information on virtual worship services. To assist caregivers, Seabury Care Management is offering consultations and a virtual education and support program.
