New Story Leadership
Join the St. John’s Holy Land Committee, Temple Sinai, and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church for an exciting event with New Story Leadership (NSL) on Sunday, June 30 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm in the St. John’s Parish Hall. Refreshments will be served.
This year the stellar group of NSL 2019 fellows will share their stories of the challenges of and future opportunities for life in Israel-Palestine. Every summer NSL brings together 8-10 “20-something” young leaders from Israel and Palestine to share their respective stories; reflect, through leadership and skills training, their commitment to build programs in the region that bring together Israelis and Palestinians and promote dialogue and peace; and to undertake, upon returning home, a wide variety of projects designed to build a “New Story” for the future of the region. The program builds speaking, dispute resolution, listening and management skills. All participants have internships on Capital Hill. Representatives and Senators hosting NSL interns this year include: Sen. Chris Van Hollen, Congressman Jamie Raskin, Congresswomen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib.
NSL is modeled after successful leadership programs used in both the Ireland/Northern Ireland and South Africa conflicts. (The current Prime Minister of Ireland is an alum of the Irish Program.) The Israel-Palestine program is now in its 10th year, and has 100 alums now active in the region. Last year, our event was one of the highlights of the Holy Land Committee’s AND NSL’s year! Please join us again for this amazing session.
