I Will Not Hate with Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish
St. John’s Episcopal Church presents and evening with Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, human rights and peace activist on Saturday, November 23rd at 7:00 pm.
A five-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish has been crossing the lines in the sand that divide Israelis and Palestinians for most of his life — as a physician who treats patients on both sides of the line, as a humanitarian who sees the need for improved health and education for women as the way forward in the Middle East.
A Harvard-trained Palestinian doctor, Dr. Abuelaish was raised in Gaza’s Jabalia refugee camp. In 2009, three of his young daughters died in an Israeli tank strike. His profound response to this tragedy made news and won him humanitarian awards around the world.
Instead of seeking revenge or sinking into hatred, Dr. Abuelaish called for the people in the region to start talking to each other. His deepest hope is that his daughters will be “the last sacrifice on the road to peace between Palestinians and Israelis.” He founded Daughters for Life Foundation, which empowers girls and young women to become agents of change for the betterment of life throughout the Middle East by providing educational scholarships and awards.
After the talk, a reception will be held. Stay tuned for more information.
Cost: This event is FREE!
