Holy Week at St. John’s
We invite you to worship with us throughout Holy Week.
On Sunday, March 25, we will mark Palm Sunday with Holy Eucharist services at 8, 9, & 11:15 am, and 5 pm. Please arrive early to the 9 and 11:15 am services for bagpipe preludes and palm processions into the church. The Passion narrative will be shared at each service, and we are thrilled to welcome back to the pulpit the Reverend Eva Cavaleri, who will preach at all services.
We will commemorate Maundy Thursday on March 29 with a 7:30 pm Holy Eucharist service in the Nave, featuring the Stripping of the Altar. We are excited to welcome back the Reverend Nan Peete to deliver this evening’s sermon.
On March 30, our annual noon service will be held in the Nave, featuring Good Friday liturgy and seventeenth-century composer and organist Heinrich Schütz’s “Passion According to St. John,” sung by members of the St. John’s Choir.
Finally, we encourage you to participate in the National Cathedral’s Great Vigil of Easter, a unique service to observe the Paschal Mystery, at 8 pm on Saturday, March 31. For more information, please click here.
