Finding Common Ground with Gun Owners on Gun Safety Policies: Can Maryland Lead the Way?

May 7 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

St. John’s Episcopal Church, with co-sponsor Temple Sinai DC, will host a hybrid community forum on Maryland as a potential leader in state “common ground” gun safety policies that are supported by gun owners.

  • Mathew Littman, Executive Director, 97percent, will summarize this bipartisan organization’s work to reduce gun violence while respecting the 2nd amendment
  • Professor Michael Siegel of Tufts University will outline state-level “common ground” policies that are supported by gun owners nationally, and, if enacted, would significantly reduce gun violence. Maryland has already adopted several of these policies.
  • Maryland State Senator Jeff Waldstreicher will respond to Siegel’s proposed policies and outline the safety benefits of his bills that are expected to be passed by the time of the forum.

St. John’s Deacon Anne E. Derse will moderate the forum in person, taking questions from both the in-person audience and the Zoom chat, and giving first priority to questions from gun owners.

REGISTER to participate either in person or virtually. St. John’s will provide a light lunch to the in-person audience and stream the forum live on Zoom.
