Adult Forum with Parish Archivist Cathy O’Donnell
Join this Sunday’s adult forum for a presentation by St. John’s volunteer Archivist, Cathy O’Donnell. Cathy’s talk will cover the early history of St. John’s up to the present.
Find out why St. John’s is located at the crossroads of Bradley Lane and Wisconsin Avenue, who was the first doctor in Bethesda, how our history intertwines with that of Bethesda, and much more.
This presentation will build on a talk that Cathy gave last year to Serving Seniors with more details on St. John’s role in the Bethesda community, the ordination of women in the Episcopal Church, women’s roles over the years at St. John’s, politicians from St. John’s, and provocative information on the early church and its rectors.
Cathy has been a St. John’s parishioner for more than 40 years and has been working in the archives for more than 10 years. She was trained by National Cathedral Historian and Archivist Dick Hewlett and received professional certification from University College Dublin in Archival Management.
Members of the Bethesda Historical Society, which originally asked Cathy to make this presentation to their group, have been invited to join in this forum.
