Adult Forum: Shalom for All (Speaker Session)
- September 20
- 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Speaker: Dr. VP Franklin, Ph.D, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of History and Education at the University of California, Riverside; Editor of The Journal of African American History from 2002 to 2018
Please join us this Sunday at 11:00 am by Zoom for the first forum in our series on Racial Equity and the Pillars of Biblical Justice. In this series, we will be examining each pillar for two weeks, the first week with an invited guest and the following week with a facilitated discussion among ourselves. Both are intended to be safe spaces for us to consider our role in what was, what is, and what will be.
Our guest this week, Dr. V.P. Franklin, has been called “one of the most productive and perceptive observers of African American life, history, and culture” of our times. He will be addressing the first pillar of biblical justice — Well-Being for All — and what this looks like in the context of racial equity, who is not experiencing well-being and how.
In next week’s forum hour, our rector Sari Ateek will lead our parish discussion of this pillar and what we heard from Dr. Franklin. For more information, please email email@example.com. For a detailed listing of the series, please click here.
- What does well-being for all look like in this context, situation, or conflict?
- Who is not experiencing well-being in this situation?
- In what ways?
