Beginning May 14, join us for a four-part series on reading and understanding scripture. Together we’ll look beyond the surface, exploring what lies beneath the narrative level to better understand Biblical literature and its enduring relevance for our modern lives. What are the various genres we encounter in the Bible and how does understanding genre inform our reading of it? How many of the stories are “true” and what is the relationship between truth and facticity? Who wrote the Gospels and when, and what of audience and perspective? How does understanding the ancient context of New Testament stories help us parse their contemporary relevance? Join us for the last four Adult Ed sessions of the program year, as we unpack these questions and more. Sundays at 9:00 am in the Parish Hall or on Zoom (link in Crossroads).
