Do you have a musical background, but are not a singer? Perhaps you played an instrument sometime in your past? If so, joining the Norwood Ringers is a perfect way to put your musical background to use.
If you played a band instrument or studied piano in the past, you are a perfect candidate for playing in the bell choir. When you play bells, you only are responsible for two notes/bells (and the related sharps & flats) which is a lot easier than practicing scales on your instrument! In a bell choir, you are an integral part of a team of musicians who together make beautiful music. The handbell technique is easy to learn and within a couple minutes, you will be ringing bells with precision. You’ll enjoy the feeling of using your musical skills and participating in a fun musical group (yes, it isn’t all serious music making, we have fun along the way!). Depending on what instrument you played, you can ring bells in the clef that you are most comfortable reading. We need people of all skills including guys who can ring our biggest bells. We welcome anyone from a teenager and beyond!
The Norwood Ringers rehearse on Thursday evenings, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the choir room. If you are interested or want more information, contact our new Interim Director of Music Ministries, Jason West. Email him anytime, or talk with him after the postlude on Sunday mornings.!
