If you’re looking for a great cause to support and an excellent way to stay fit, come give Iqraa a try!

Iqraa means read, in Arabic, and has an educational mission. A locally based running group, Iqraa has been supported by St. John’s Holy Land Committee (HLC) for multiple years because of a shared educational mission and due to the HLC’s focus on humanitarian issues and concern for Palestinian rights.
Irqaa provides university scholarships that enable many qualified Palestinians to acquire an education that they would not otherwise be able to afford. These scholarships, provided by Iqraa with HLC support—along with the academic and social skills Palestinians that acquire at universities in the West Bank, Gaza, and Jordan— position them to stand up for their rights.
HLC co-convener Kirk Campbell is the founder and coordinator of the Iqraa running team, which has been “Running for a brighter Palestine” (the group’s motto) since 2008. Peter Craig and Jay Mallin are additional alumni.
Iqraa begins training on May 6 and will have a couple of hybrid info sessions—at its charity partner, United Palestinian Appeal and via Zoom—on Apr 19 and Apr 22 to talk about the program and answer questions.
Please contact Kirk Campbell for more information. All are welcome!
