St. John’s March outreach collection, on Sunday the 26th, will benefit Identity, Inc. Chaired by St. John’s own Sarah Whitesell, Identity, Inc. is a Montgomery County nonprofit serving Latino youth and families.
At school, in the community and on playing fields, Identity supports Latino and other historically underserved youth and families to reach their highest potential and thrive. Identity works with an average of 9,000 people each year, impacting over 40,000 more in their households. It offers culturally sensitive, trauma-responsive programs through four high school-based Wellness Centers, two community-based Youth Opportunity Centers, and out-of-school-time programs at a dozen schools.
Identity youth report real improvements in their ability to manage difficult emotions; resolve conflict; speak up for themselves; and avoid substance abuse and other harmful behavior. They also show improved school attendance and achievement.
Identity collaborates with the Montgomery County government and other nonprofits to help newly arrived migrants and asylum-seekers arriving by bus from Texas, Arizona and Florida. Identity is “beyond grateful” to St. John’s for donating warm clothing and other basic necessities for these newcomers.
Please donate via Breeze and select “Outreach Sunday: Identity, Inc.” (Please consider covering the processing fee.) Or write a check payable to St. John’s Norwood with “Identity, Inc.” on the memo line. Thank you!
