St. John’s Diaper Drive: Helping Families and Babies in Need

Very real and urgent assistance is needed for our neighbors in Gaithersburg. St. John’s Men’s Ministry, in partnership with the city of Gaithersburg and Seneca Creek Community Church, is organizing the purchase and distribution of diapers for families living in poverty and who often cannot find work or obtain the needed wages to procure essential items to support their children and families.

The average baby goes through 8 to 12 diapers a day, which can cost approximately $70 to $80 per month and which are not covered by Government food assistance. As a result, many of these families cannot provide clean and sanitary  diapers to their babies.

St. John’s Norwood is aiming to meet this need through our Diaper Drive that will run from June 4th through 25th. Our goal is to raise enough money to purchase 100 jumbo size diaper packs along with 2oo packages of baby wipes.  Each $30 contribution you make will buy one jumbo size diaper pack and two packs of baby wipes; $60 or $90 buys even more.

The contributions that you make to the Diaper Drive will benefit the Gaithersburg Cares Hub for which the Men’s Ministry was able to raise $5,100.00 last year.

You can support the Diaper Drive by contributing in either of the two following ways:

  • Checks can be made out to St. John’s with “Diapers” on the memo line. Mail to 6701 Wisconsin Avenue, Chevy Chase, MD 20815.
  • Breeze. Select “Give to Diapers and Baby Products” from the first drop-down menu the to ensure that your contribution will be used to the purchase of these items.
