The St. John’s GVP Group (see photo) invites you to Wear Orange in honor of all victims of gun violence. Orange was the favorite color of 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton, who was killed by gunfire in Chicago just one week after her high school band had performed in President Obama’s second inaugural parade. After her death, her friends asked people to stand up, speak out, and wear orange to raise awareness of gun violence. Learn more about Wear Orange.
St. John’s will host a Wear Orange worship service and forum on Sunday, June 6th. Our guest preacher and forum speaker will be Giselle Morch, a deacon and activist for gun violence prevention (read more). Please plan to wear orange that day. Buying your T-shirt from Everytown for Gun Safety helps fund action against gun violence. Shop here.
Nourishing Bethesda volunteers will also wear orange at the food packing Thursday, June 3rd and distribution Friday, June 4th. Volunteers are still needed for the June 4th food distribution. Sign up here, and don’t forget to wear orange to the Rescue Squad that day, to raise awareness of gun violence!
