LSSNCA resettles refugees fleeing war and persecution, provides vital clinical health interventions with immigrants, builds new families through adoption, offers foster homes to unaccompanied refugee minors, and empowers youth through healthy relationships education and leadership workshops.
Over the past two years, our parish partnered with LSSNCA to support the Kabira Kambere Lwambi family. Led by Christy King and Nancy Adams, St. John’s volunteers located and furnished a home large enough for ten, helped the family navigate enrollment in school and public assistance programs, provided transportation, and tutored family members in school subjects, the English language, and financial management. At the end of October, the family relocated to Kaukauna, Wisconsin, close to many Congolese friends from their Ugandan refugee camp. Although “our” family is now surrounded by a supportive community, many other refugees and immigrants in the DC area need the vital assistance LSSNCA provides.
