Introducing St. John’s’ New Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministry

Dear St. John’s,

It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce to you Dawn Molloy, our new Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministry (CYF).

Dawn’s passion for working with children, youth, and their families is what drew her to this work eight years ago following a successful career on the Special Education faculty at the University of Maryland. Her creative, engaging, and family-oriented approach to Christian education, as well as her commitment to equipping and supporting parents and volunteers in their work with children and youth, is rooted in her own commitments as a parent and follower of Christ. Dawn believes that faith formation is meant to be fresh, relevant, and relational, and she brings with her a lot of experience in nurturing a church school program that draws on the gifts and talents of the entire church community.

Dawn’s accessible and joyful personality combined with her gifts and passion for working with children and young people in the context of a church family are just some of the many wonderful qualities that drew us to her and it’s exciting to know that she and Lee Walsh, our incredibly competent Assistant for CYF, will be working together to reinvigorate our church school program. Here are a few words from Dawn:

I am delighted to join you as your new Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministry. That title is a mouthful, and I hope that you see yourself someplace in it, whether you’re a child or youth, doing the difficult work of growing up; a parent, on the frontlines of raising children; or part of the church “family,” which, to me, means everyone in the Body of Christ. We have work to do together. God gives good gifts to His people, and I am so excited to get to know you, and see God at work in each of you!

A native Marylander, Dawn is married to Rob and together they have three children between 19 and 23 years old. She is a lover of church music, an accomplished singer, and in her spare time she loves to hike, ski, and hang out with her dog and two cats.

We look forward to spotlighting Dawn at our 10 am virtual service this Sunday, so that we can welcome her together and say a prayer for her new ministry among us. Please join me in welcoming Dawn to St. John’s!

Grace and Peace,
