Inquirer’s Class for the Liturgy of Welcome
Twice a year, St. John’s introduces and welcomes all interested new members with a short Liturgy of Welcome that takes place during each of our four services. In the Liturgy of Welcome, new members join the rest of the community in affirming their commitment to worship, pray and love their neighbor, grow spiritually, build community and make a difference in our church and in the world.
The next Liturgy of Welcome will be held on October 22, 2017
For those interested in learning more about the Episcopal Church in general and St. John’s in particular in advance of participating in the Liturgy of Welcome, St. John’s is offering this short introduction to the Episcopal Church over three Sundays. Parishioner Tom Hebert will lead the class. Other interested parishioners are also welcome to attend, space permitting.
- The first class will give a brief history of the Episcopal Church and how it relates to the Anglican and Roman Catholic Churches, as well as to the Protestant denominations.
- The second class will give an overview of the theology of the Episcopal Church and its practice.
- The third class will introduce St John’s itself, discussing its ministries and activities, as well as some of the nuts and bolts of what it takes to maintain and operate our church.
