Engagement Training for Relational Meetings
We welcome The Rev. Jessica Tate, Director of NEXT Church, a network of leaders in the Presbyterian denomination (USA) working to envision a relational, creative and progressive future for the Church. During the adult forum Jessica will be conducting a mini workshop on Relational Meetings, the primary tool and building block for community organizing and used by many congregation-based community organizing groups.
Relational meetings, also known as “one-on-ones,” are an effective way of going beyond surface conversations to strengthen the fabric of a community by allowing people to truly get to know one another including what matters most to the other, what motivates them and what they are passionate about in life. Relational meetings are as natural as a conversation over a back-yard fence or with a fellow passenger in an airplane but, when intentionally done, can be a skillful art form that can deepen connection and call forth the best in one another.
