Blessing of the Animals
St. John’s will join other churches around the world to celebrate the Feast of St. Francis with a special Blessing of the Animals. This will be an adventurous gathering of gratefulness for pets of all kinds (real, pictures, or stuffed) and their owners, animal lovers, and those who are just curious.
For those of you bringing pets to be blessed:
- Dogs: Please keep your dog on a leash.
- Cats: Please bring your cats in a carrier.
- Rabbits, hamsters, birds, lizards, snakes, etc.: All are welcome. Please keep them in a carrier (but not the same carrier at the same time).
We will also welcome veterinarians, technicians, and animal caregivers for a special blessing. If you know of anyone who would like to be included in this event, please share this invitation with them.
We hope you’ll join us in giving thanks for the diversity of animals that enrich our lives – from the direct blessings of “family members” to the indirect blessings of those that offer nutrition, protection, and labor around the world.
And we hope you’ll also invite others to come catch a glimpse of God’s love in our community!
